Reading Football Club winger Antony Rougier has taken his fundraising efforts to a cutting-edge level—by giving his friend and web developer, Jason Treeby, a fresh new look for a great cause.
Rougier, known for his international flair on the pitch, decided to get his head together with Jason, who runs the winger’s popular fan website, to brainstorm creative ways to raise money for 10-year-old Sam Wheeler. Sam needed a new electric wheelchair, and the Reading FC community was rallying around him. While other players were donating signed boots and goalkeeper gloves for auction, Rougier wanted to trim the usual approach and do something different.
That’s when he set his sights—and his clippers—on Jason’s perfectly styled hair.
“Jason is very fussy about his hair,” Rougier revealed. “It’s always gelled and looking spot-on whenever he’s out. So, getting out my clippers and giving him a haircut to match my own was a no-brainer! He needed a lot of convincing, I must say.”
In front of Meridian News TV cameras and local press, Jason took the plunge, sacrificing his signature hairstyle for charity. With the support of his colleagues at Energis, Jason helped raise over £500 for Sam’s campaign.
The heartwarming initiative proves that when it comes to charity, every little snip helps. Kudos to Rougier, Jason, and the Reading FC community for their shear generosity!
